Aligned
So many WIPs, but finally I finished another small art quilt that I've been working on. It started as a gel print on muslin and went on to a number of manifestations. It's first manifestation was this:
After some more free motion quilting and going at it with some fabric pastels, the journey finally ended here:

The second is warmer and more approachable. The first reminds me of science fiction, the second of earth. Which one do YOU like best?

ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments! I've been struggling with working in a void so I joined a critique group and sent the first one in. Of course, they said the same thing you all said with more details, and with their feedback I was able to develop it without overdoing it. Initially I did have the cosmos in mind, but it did seem stark to me. It screamed for color so I went for some input before overworking it. After adding a little color it changed the character so much yet was screaming for more, so I got brave with my fabric pastels until I was satisfied.
